UBL FC

A football team for dads, brothers, grandads and uncles who have lost a baby either through Miscarriage, Still Birth, Neo Natal Death or TFMR.

There is no trial, no fitness requirement and no minimum standard. Some of us hadn’t kicked a ball in fifteen years. Some of us never had. It doesn’t matter.

You don’t have to talk about what happened if you don’t want to. Nobody will make you. You turn up, you play and you go home. And then one week, in the car park afterwards, you might say something out loud that you have never said to anyone and every man standing there will know exactly what you mean because it happened to him too.

That’s the whole thing. That’s why it works.

Peer Support Through Football

We meet every Wednesday for a kick about, nothing serious and you can play to both your ability and fitness without judgement.

Plenty of weeks there is someone on the sidelines who isn’t playing. Watching, having a brew, catching up with someone after a heavy week or before an anniversary they can feel coming. That counts and you are welcome to come and not play.

We are also planning other events and meet ups so there will be more than one way to be part of this.

Who can play

Anyone directly affected by baby loss: dads, brothers, grandads, uncles. Any ability and it genuinely does not matter how long ago it was.

We are an adult team, 18 and over and we do not run junior sessions.

Where and when

We meet every Wednesday evening near Fareham. Drop us a message and we will give you the details. The venue is used solely by UBL FC so it is a safe and enclosed space.

Message us before you come and one of us will meet you so you’re not walking in on your own. Most of us needed that.

You can message us on Facebook or Instagram

How the club and the charity fit together

UBL FC is an independent, self-funded club. The players cover their own costs and it has run that way since 2019. Donations to United By Loss do not pay for the football.

The club came first and the charity grew out of it. Same people, two different things.

Sponsor the club

Shirt, sleeve and match-ball sponsorship put your name alongside a team of local dads and fund care packages at the same time. Get in touch.
